You've just got access to a Questionmark area, and you're looking to dive in to delivering assessments. What's the quickest path to start delivering assessments? This Knowledge Base article explains how the assessment creation, participant creation, and scheduling processes work. For the sake of convenience, we're using the root administrator for a Questionmark area so that we bypass having to configure new users and their permissions and go straight into assessment creation.

Accessing the OnDemand portal
Follow the instructions in the welcome email sent by Questionmark to log in to your OnDemand portal for the first time, and configure a password for your administrator.
Once you've configured a password for your administrator, you can begin creating an assessments and then participants to take that assessment.
Creating an assessment
To create an assessment, questions must be created first.
To create questions:
- Go to Authoring > Topics.
- Select the root topics folder.
- Click Topics, and then click New.
- Enter a name for the new topic, and press Enter.
- Select the new topic.
- Click New, and click the desired question type.
- Create the question as desired.
- Save the question.
- Repeat the above steps for all desired questions.

Once questions have been created, an assessment can be created.
To create an assessment:
- Go to Authoring > Assessments.
- Select the root assessments folder.
- Click Folder, and then click New.
- Enter a name for the new assessment folder, and press Enter.
- Select the new assessment folder.
- Click New, and then click the desired assessment type.
- Follow the instructions in Creating an assessment to add questions to the assessment and configure the desired settings.
- Save the assessment.
Publishing an assessment
Before the assessment can be scheduled to participants, it must be published.
To publish the assessment:
- Select the assessment.
- Click Publish.
- The assessment now appears in Authoring > Published assessments. On this screen, it can be published to an LMS or scheduled to participants.
Creating participants
Before your assessment can be scheduled, participants must be created.
To create participants:
- Go to People > Users.
- Click Add user.
- Enter a username for the user in the Username field.
- Enter a valid email address for the user in the Email address field.
- Select Generate random password to automatically generate a random secure password for the user.
- Select the Participant role.
- Select Notify user of new account so that the user receives an email with account information and instructions.
- Enter the desired details for the user in the appropriate fields.
- Click Create new account.
- Repeat the above steps for all desired participants.

Scheduling an assessment
Once your assessment has been created, it must be scheduled so that participants can take it.
To schedule an assessment:
- Go to Administration > Schedules.
- Click Add schedule.
- To add a group of participants to the schedule, select a group. Only one group can be associated per schedule.
- To add individual participant(s) to the schedule, select the desired participants.
- Select the published assessment(s) to schedule. Selected assessments are added to the Selected assessments area.
- Enter a name for the schedule in the Name field.
- Set the dates and times between which the participant(s) can take the assessment(s) using the Date and Time fields
- Set the maximum number of assessment attempts allowed in the Max attempts field.
- Select whether or not the assessment can be resumed in the Resume allowed section.
- If desired, select Send email to scheduled participant(s) or group to send an email that contains the details of the assessment to the participant(s) or group.
- If this option is selected, after creating the schedule, you'll be taken to the Send participant email screen, where you can configure additional aspects of the email.
- Click Create schedule.

Taking an assessment as a participant
Now that your assessment has been scheduled, participants can take it.
Your participant(s) use the same URL as administrators to log into the Questionmark portal.
For instance, https://ondemand.questionmark.com/home/123456/, replacing 123456 with the unique ID for your Questionmark area.
Once logged in, the portal lists all scheduled assessments for a participant. Clicking starts an assessment.

What's next?
You've created an assessment, created participants to take the assessment, scheduled the assessment, and allowed participants to take the assessment. Once all participants have completed the assessment, you can use Analytics, our reporting tool, to analyze assessment results and share the conclusions with stakeholders.
